Wireshark
Wondering about all that traffic on your network? Use Wireshark to uncover it. While reading packet captures is more of an art, once you learn enough to make heads and tails of a packet capture, you’ll find boundless information about what’s going on with your network using Wireshark. Be careful though; while using Wireshark on your own network at home isn’t a problem, DO NOT use this anywhere else except with permission only. Using this without permission on an employer’s network or someone else’s private network can potentially result in termination and/or prosecution. However, knowing how to use this in the appropriate situation can be of great use to help track down mystery traffic or bandwidth issues.
